About the Live Webinar
The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners present the Winter Wonderings webinar series, a seasonal lineup of stand-alone educational sessions designed to build horticultural knowledge, spark creativity, and add a bright lift to the winter months. While the word meadow may bring to mind sweeping landscapes, a mini meadow—an informal seed-started flower garden sown directly into prepared soil—can thrive in spaces of any size, including areas as small as 50 square feet. Affordable to plant for under $20 and intentionally low maintenance, mini meadows reduce mowing, conserve water compared to traditional lawns, and provide essential habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. They also create inviting outdoor exploration areas for children, blending color, curiosity, and ecological benefit close to home. This session offers practical guidance and inspiration for gardeners seeking beautiful, functional, and environmentally supportive planting ideas that carry impact far beyond the growing season.
