About The Blended Workshop

Understanding wetlands is an important part of making informed decisions about agricultural land use and production. This training provides a foundational overview of wetlands within and adjacent to agricultural lands, with a focus on Pennsylvania wetland types and the key features used to identify and describe them, including hydrology, soils, and vegetation. Participants will explore historic land use, wetland alterations, wetland determination, regulatory identification, state and federal permitting processes, responsible land use practices, ecological restoration, flood resiliency, and agricultural production. The field portion will provide hands-on experience identifying potential wetlands in agricultural landscapes, understanding agricultural production adjacent to wetlands, and recognizing when professional support may be needed. Participants will also receive a PDF field guide featuring a starter list of common wetland plants found in southern Pennsylvania wetlands.

This is a blended event that consists of both in-person and virtual training days.
