Weaning Rations for Beef Steers for Two Rates of Gain

These rations are based on calves receiving an average grass/legume hay that is .28 mcal/lb NEg and 10% crude protein.

The mineral should contain at least 1/3 limestone or calcium equivalent value and can be offered free choice (with intake monitored.) Unless indicated hay is offered free-choice except for the soyhull ration. Calves should be gradually acclimated to the ration over a period of 2 weeks. Values are in pounds per head per day.
