About the In-Person Workshop
Experience the beauty of the Lehigh River on two wheels during Waterways on Wheels, a 22-mile guided bike tour hosted by Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards. This unique program combines outdoor recreation with engaging environmental and historical education through two planned stops along the route, including a brief stop during the ride out and a longer stop over lunch before returning to the starting point. Learn about the ecology, wildlife, and conservation of the Lehigh Gap and Lehigh River Watershed and discover the rich history of the communities and industries that have shaped the river corridor. Ideal for cyclists, nature enthusiasts, history buffs, and anyone who enjoys exploring the outdoors, this guided tour offers a fresh perspective on one of Pennsylvania's most scenic waterways.
This program is recommended for participants ages 14 and older, as the guided ride covers approximately 22 miles round trip. Participants should be comfortable riding a bicycle for an extended period, maintaining a casual pace, and staying with the group throughout the tour. All riders are required to provide their own bicycle and helmet. Lunch, including sandwiches and a snack, will be provided.
Youth participants must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian.
This program was supported in part by Lehigh Valley Greenways Conservation Landscape.
