About The In-Person Workshop

Join the Master Watershed Stewards and York County Parks for a captivating bike tour along the York County Heritage Rail Trail. Waterways on Wheels, an educational program by Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards, offers a fun and informative journey through history and nature. This 13-mile ride will showcase key watershed features, trail history, and the area's unique geology. Along the way, explore the history of local mills and transportation. Upon returning to the York County History Center, participants can enjoy local snacks while learning about the future of Codorus Creek and discussing our observations from the tour. The paved trail includes educational stops and water breaks, ensuring an engaging and informative experience.

The tour, including stops, will last approximately 3 hours. Helmets are required for all participants. The trail is approximately 70 percent paved and can accommodate road, mountain, or gravel bicycles. Participants are encouraged to bring water. The tour begins and ends at the York County History Center, with a turnaround point at John Rudy County Park, where restroom facilities and drinking water are available.

This event is part of Watershed Week, an annual celebration of York County's waterways, held September 15–21. Activities throughout the week include paddling excursions, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and guided explorations focused on stream and river conservation.
