About The Live Webinar

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often called "forever chemicals," are man-made compounds that persist in the environment and pose risks to both ecological and human health. Introduced through sources such as manufacturing processes, firefighting foams, consumer products, landfills, and wastewater treatment plant effluents, PFAS have become widespread in rivers, streams, and lakes, where they can accumulate in fish and enter the human food chain. This program will explore current research on PFAS in aquatic systems, the ways in which people are exposed through fish consumption and other pathways, and practical steps individuals and communities can take to reduce risk.
