Upcoming 2017 Fall Survey for Beginning Farmers

This survey will help determine the products the “Start Farming Team” will be offering over the next two years. The survey should take less than ten minutes to complete but will be invaluable to our Product Development Process.

Our team of extension educators has extensive expertise in their fields, and we wish to use that knowledge to provide the products that you deem necessary, and in the method(s) you wish to receive the information. This information will guide our future offerings to better serve you, our customers.

You will be asked to provide the type of agriculture you are in or considering and the stage of your venture. Some of the additional questions will deal with the amount of land you have or are seeking and your anticipated or current income levels. So we can provide targeted information, we are also asking you to provide us with the topic areas for which you need additional information.

I am asking you to take the time to complete the survey to the best of your knowledge to provide the guidance we are seeking. If you complete the survey and provide some limited contact information (e-mail or telephone number), you will be entered to win one of five $50 Visa® gift cards.

You may have noticed that the Penn State Extension website has changed. The Start Farming homepage has been removed and you will need to search for specific topics. The new site is designed to provide a more comprehensive listing of the products that will benefit your search for information. You will see a much broader range of information which should provide more in-depth information than before.

The new Getting Started program section has a fresh new look and diversified information.

I look forward to the survey results to discover what information you feel we need to provide and the delivery methods you prefer. I firmly believe we will be able to provide the content and information you desire over the next few years.
