About The Live Webinar
Join thousands of citizens committed to making a difference in their communities by becoming a Tree Tender. Through the Tree Tenders training program, developed by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in partnership with Penn State Extension Urban Foresters, you will gain the skills needed to restore and care for your community's tree canopy. This program empowers individuals to take meaningful action by learning how to plant, prune, and maintain trees, directly contributing to environmental health and sustainability. Become part of a growing movement dedicated to enhancing green spaces and increasing tree cover in neighborhoods across Pennsylvania.
Since 1993, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has trained thousands of Tree Tenders in more than 200 neighborhoods across Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has supported the program since 2004. In 2008, the program expanded to Pittsburgh and smaller metropolitan areas, and by 2013, it became available statewide. Since then, thousands more have been trained throughout Pennsylvania and beyond.
*Each participant will receive a hard copy of theĀ Tree Tenders Handbook, published by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.Ā
USDA Forest Service, Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Forestry, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society provide financial and in-kind support for this program.
