About The In-Person Workshop
Elevate your skills and confidence at our four-day, hands-on Tree Climbing School, where you'll learn safe equipment use, essential knot tying, and effective tree climbing techniques. Designed for beginners and those seeking to improve their abilities, this workshop emphasizes the fundamentals of climbing and pruning trees safely. Whether you're a land manager, arborist, or outdoor enthusiast, this experience will equip you with practical skills for tree care and maintenance.
Please come prepared for a full day in the field. Food will not be provided, so participants should bring their own lunch and snacks. Water will be available on-site. This event will take place rain or shine, so be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
Climbing equipment will be provided. Participants may bring their own gear; however, all personal equipment will be inspected prior to use.
Tree Climbing School is a physically demanding, skill-based program. Individuals with disabilities that limit full range of motion, impair manual dexterity, or significantly affect vision should not register. Safety is a top priority and will be rigorously taught and monitored throughout the course.

The school will include both classroom instruction and fieldwork covering the following topics:
- Safety and safe climbing practices
- Equipment and use of hand tools
- Tree terminology
- Diagnosis of tree diseases and insect damage
- Tree care, culture, and pruning
- Tree removal
- Knots
Students who complete this program will not be fully trained climbers but will gain a foundational understanding of tree maintenance and climbing. They will develop essential knowledge and skills for the field, with significant time dedicated to climbing practice.
