Torey Fischer is a poultry extension educator based in Mifflin County and covering central Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University and a master’s in poultry science and extension from Purdue University. She worked with extension in several different capacities at those universities throughout her education. Her research during those degrees focused on the welfare and behavior of laying hens in cage-free housing systems, egg quality and food saftey, as well as extension programming in smaller-scale and backyard poultry operations. She hopes to expand programming in these areas and reach more small to midsize poultry operations in Mifflin, Juniata, Snyder, and Union Counties and the surrounding areas.
