Penn State Extension's Health and Wellness Team is committed to helping local communities and individuals live healthier lives through research-based programs. Our educators work across Pennsylvania to support individuals, professionals, and communities with health and wellness education. 

What We Offer

Our team offers a wide range of programs that provide education and ways to apply everyday practices in healthy eating, active living, preventive care, and chronic disease management.

Physical Activity Programming

LIFT and LIFTed Explore safe, simple, effective strength training. In-person and virtual group classes for adults 40-plus target functional fitness.

Everybody Walk Across Pennsylvania Step up to the biannual virtual walking challenge. Walk 10 miles a week for 8 weeks. We’ll help keep you moving.

Healthy Eating Programming

Let’s Cook Expand your culinary skills. Join us for hands-on workshops and webinars to learn new recipes, healthy eating tips, and shopping skills.

Disease Prevention Programming

Dining with Diabetes Learn to manage type 2 diabetes while increasing your knowledge of healthy food choices and diabetes management. Classes are available in person, virtually, and self-paced online.

Build Your Bones Learn how you can prevent osteoporosis and maintain bone health. Explore healthy eating, exercise, and medications to stay strong and independent. In-person and webinar programs are available.

Alzheimer's Programs Partnering with the Alzheimer's Association, we’ll help you discover science-based insights that may help you understand this disease, its warning signs, and how to preserve brain and body health as we age. In-person and webinar programs are offered.

Journey to a Healthier Heart An email program highlights meal planning, food journaling, and tips to reduce blood pressure and manage cholesterol.

Volumetrics Weigh of Life Explore sustainable, healthy eating for lifelong weight management. In-person and webinar programs are offered.

Walk by Faith Learn how to implement and lead a healthy eating and physical activity program that can help participants from your organization maintain a healthy weight and reduce their risk of cancer.
