The Master Gardeners have assembled a diverse selection of native plug kits to enhance your landscape this spring. Two kits are designed specifically for container gardens—Simmering Sunshine for full sun and Shadow Dancers for shade.
Three additional native plug kits include a greater variety of species and a higher number of plugs, ideal for establishing a new garden bed or expanding an existing planting area:
- Shady Serenity—features shade-adapted native species selected for reliable performance
- Flutter and Flourish—supports pollinators by providing nectar sources and host plants throughout the growing season
- Perch and Petal—offers selections that attract birds while also benefiting pollinating insects
Each kit includes a planting template to assist with layout and design decisions.
Browse the Kit Catalog to explore available species and detailed plant information.
All perennial native plants are supplied as landscape plugs from North Creek Nurseries. These plugs are grown in specialized trays that promote strong root development, supporting rapid establishment in the landscape or in containers. They are easy to handle, straightforward to plant, and cost-effective.
Many of the native species included in these kits are not typically available through local retailers. Several selections have been recognized in field trials conducted by Mt. Cuba Center and North Creek Nurseries.
A wide selection of perennials, shrubs, herbs, native plants, vegetables, and additional annuals will also be available for purchase at the Master Gardeners’ plant sale when you pick up your order.
Proceeds from your purchases support the Master Gardeners' educational programs and community outreach initiatives throughout Westmoreland County.
