This workshop will teach you how to identify the spotted lanternfly and what precautions to take.

The spotted lanternfly was introduced in Berks County in 2014 and has spread to 13 counties, including Carbon and Monroe. It spreads by laying eggs on cars, trailers, firewood and anything that has a flat surface. It also can hitch hike onto your car as you travel from one area to another.

It feeds on over 70 varieties of plants and trees and impacts not only plants, but can make outdoor activities very unpleasant. It has the potential of greatly affecting our agricultural and timber industry and exports from Pennsylvania. The public can do a great deal to stop the spread of this invasive insect.
