SILVAH Training: Allegheny Hardwood is an intensive multi-day workshop designed to give participants comprehensive knowledge about forest ecology and management of Allegheny hardwood and Northern hardwood forests.

To Be Covered

Nearly half of the session is conducted in the field where participants have a chance to apply SILVAH techniques, practice regeneration and understory vegetation surveys, and view examples of regeneration and overstory management techniques.

Field exercises are done in crews and will be conducted regardless of weather. Participants are expected to bring a hardhat and standard forest inventory equipment.
