Discover how to harness map features to pinpoint areas with challenging medical facility access, overlay low-income regions, and highlight unserved broadband locations or other demographic variables. Gain crucial insights into the necessity for strategic broadband resource allocation to effectively address healthcare disparities and broadband access in communities. Generously supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, the National BEAD Broadband Navigator empowers users with essential tools for enhancing healthcare accessibility through local broadband deployment conversations for underserved areas.

- [Instructor] Let's take a look at one of the features the map provides to help improve rural healthcare access.
In this example, I'll zoom into Pennsylvania and I'll select the county.
I'll zoom in, and then I'll use the layer entitled Poor Medical Facility Access.
I'm then gonna overlay low-income areas, and then I'm gonna highlight areas with unserved, broadband, serviceable locations.
And if I'm a stakeholder or looking to deploy resources in this area, and rural healthcare is one of my concerns, I can quickly see that this area has a high density of residents who are more than 30 minutes from a medical facility and lack access to high-speed broadband.
And so I may want to provide more resources here, especially if my goal is to increase access to telemedicine.
We hope you found this example helpful.
