About The In-Person Workshop
The Master Watershed Stewards and the Watershed Alliance of Adams County welcome Dr. John Jackson of the Stroud Water Research Center to Gettysburg for an essential look at road salt as a growing pollutant in streams that drain urban and suburban landscapes. Dr. Jackson will outline spatial patterns and seasonal trends in chloride contamination, explain how they influence drinking water quality and stream health, and discuss the mounting risks to aquatic life, public and private infrastructure, and community resources. He will conclude with clear next steps, emphasizing that without meaningful reductions in road salt use, this issue will continue to degrade water supplies and undermine watershed resilience.
This event is being offered at no charge to participants.
