Registration Now Open for Farming for Success Field Day

Penn State Extension and the Penn State Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SEAREC) are hosting an agronomic field day for Farmers, Industry Representatives and other Agricultural Professionals. The field day is held at Penn State SEAREC which is a 100-acre research farm located near Landisville in Lancaster County. The doors open at 8:30 AM, when you can visit with sponsors, and the program beginning promptly at 9:00 AM.

The field day promises to be an informative event featuring a wide range of crop production topics. You can see research plots in the field, learn from Penn State and Ag industry professionals and visit with industry sponsors. The Farming for Success field day is planned and organized by local members of the Penn State Extension Field and Forage Crop Team, with support from numerous local agricultural businesses and organizations. 

Participants will choose from three different tracks based upon their interests. Tour stops and sessions will include:

• Morning Keynote: Dr. Gregory Martin and local emergency personnel - Hope for the best, plan for the worst: Farm emergency preparedness
• Lunch Keynote: Dr. Florence Becot - Supporting the mental health and economic viability of agricultural communities
• Racing the clock: best practices for profitable double crop spoybeans
• Hail demo: how damage timing and frequency impacts soybeans
• Corn planter mishaps
• Droning about IPM
• Clean fields, big yields: herbicide programs to tackle pickle
• Seed testing and why it matters
• Getting to the root of the problem: managing seedling diseases in corn and soybean
• Scavenging nutrients and protecting water

Note: 4.0 Certified Crop Advisor Credits (CCA),  and 1 each of Category 1, 8, and 25 Pesticide Applicator Credits are pending.
