These meetings are excellent opportunities to learn the latest research-based orchard management strategies from Extension specialists, receive core and category credits for Pennsylvania pesticide applicator certification or recertification, discuss preparations for the 2019 growing season, and connect with other producers in your area.

Topics to be discussed at each of the educational meetings include:

  • Optimizing disease, herbicide, nutrient, and tree management strategies for very wet seasons and lessons learned during 2018
  • Changes to herbicides and growth regulators, and utilizing the NEWA system
  • Monitoring and managing common fruit pests and invasive species such as Spotted Lanternfly
  • Navigating the new Worker Protection Standards

Region-specific topics may be covered depending upon the interests of and recommendations from local producers. Regular participants at local tree fruit meetings should expect an announcement to come in the mail with a region-specific agenda. Please contact the appropriate Extension educator to be added to the announcement mailing list.
