Red Mammoth Beet Grow Off!

Here's how it works: Registered participants will receive 1-3 plants to grow starting in May-June. Participants can grow their beets however they choose, but will be asked to submit information about their site, cultivation methods, plants and harvest weight.

In October we will have a 'weigh-in' day at the Mercer Extension Office for the participants and a survey to fill out with their cultivation methods. The person(s) with the largest (in weight) beet wins!!

What information will I need to submit? We are looking for things such as amount of light (full sun, part sun), garden medium (soil, compost peat moss, potting mix), fertilizer type (brand, frequency, amount), plant health, amount of beets and weight, or just any comments.

What is the cost? This is a free program with no cost for participants.
