Make a Gift to Support the Master Watershed Steward Program

Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards are community volunteers with a passion for protecting the environment. The Master Watershed Steward Program provides forty hours of training in watershed conservation and natural resources to local volunteers. In return, these volunteers work as environmental stewards, expanding the force of local experts providing environmental education and on-the-ground work to protect our streams, rivers, and the nature that surrounds them. Stewards educate the community through workshops and at community events about watershed stewardship, using University research and recommendations to guide them.

By supporting our local Master Watershed Steward Programs, you can help our team to implement projects such as water quality sampling; stream cleanups; the installation of rain gardens; public workshops on invasive plant control and stormwater management; and more.

Since the program started in 2013, Master Watershed Stewards have contributed over 50,000 volunteer hours and educated over 250,000 Pennsylvania residents. With your help, we can reach and engage more people in environmental stewardship to truly make a difference in our communities.
