Thor Banks is the Director of Residence Life at Lafayette College. Prior to this role, Thor was the Director of Residence Life and Housing at Delaware Valley University. In this role, he challenges students to consider differing perspectives and helps prepare them to be transformational leaders in the wider world.
Thor is dedicated to supporting students’ development. He uses his personal experience to be relatable and approachable, giving students from all walks of life an opportunity to grow and find themselves.
Thor takes pride in being a connector and has yet to meet a stranger. His experience in hospitality management and transition to servant leadership has afforded him opportunities to create meaningful relationships everywhere he has gone. He views every experience as an opportunity to learn. Throughout the workday you will often find him sitting in the lobby of his office trying to learn what is on the minds of young adults.
Thor’s passion for supporting and connecting with others pairs well with his passion for cooking. He uses food as a tool to have people gather and create new experiences. He envisions these passions coming together as a food truck in the future, with a focus on food insecurity in the surrounding area, particularly with college students.
Thor holds a Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education - Administration from Kutztown University and a BS in Hospitality Management from East Stroudsburg University. Thor resides in Bucks County with his wife, two-year-old son, and another on the way! In his free time, you can find him cooking, playing disc golf, or spending time with his family.
