Poison Prevention Program Formula for Success: How the Master Gardeners of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, exceeded by far their previous records for teaching poison prevention to first-grade students in the county.

In partnership with Penn State University's Pesticide Education Program, Master Gardeners presented the "Mr. Yuk" Poison Prevention Program to 2,198 first-grade students and 150 adults in 123 classrooms in 37 schools.
Total reach was 6,286 people through take-home information and activities.
Methods
- Recruit MG volunteers and contact schools four months ahead
- Place calendar and school information in a shared folder available to all
- Train volunteers to present the info with the use of posters and props
- Confirm schools one week ahead
- Request schools to answer survey evaluations after the presentations
