Dates: Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 p.m. beginning October 5, 2017 through March 8, 2018.

Cost: There is a $200 program fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses.

Deadline to register: Applications will be accepted through September 26.

Location: Penn State Extension Office in Union County in Mifflinburg.

Penn State Extension is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Penn State Extension Master Gardener Basic Training Program for Union and Snyder Counties. This volunteer training course is designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills to serve as volunteer educators. Master Gardeners use research-based information to teach information on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.

In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to the county Master Gardener Program within the first year and 20 hours each year thereafter to maintain certification.
