Penn State Extension is now accepting applications for the Spring 2019 Penn State Extension accelerated Master Gardener Basic Training Course for residents of Columbia, Montour and Northumberland Counties.  This course provides experienced home gardeners with information and skills to serve as volunteer educators.  Master Gardeners use research-based information to teach best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.

In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to the county Master Gardener Program within the first year, and 20 hours each year thereafter to maintain certification.

The Spring 2019 Basic Training class will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning March 11 and running through May 23, 2019.  Classes will be held in the basement conference room at the Penn State Extension Office in Sunbury.  There is a $200 program fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses.  Class size may be limited.  Applications will be accepted through February 14, 2019.
