The Penn State Franklin County Extension Master Gardener Program is accepting applications.

Penn State Extension in Franklin County is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Penn State Extension Master Gardener Basic Training Program. This volunteer training course is designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills to serve as volunteer educators. Master Gardeners use research based information to teach information on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.

In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to the Franklin County Master Gardener Program within the first year and 30 hours each year thereafter to maintain certification.

The 2017-2018 Training Class will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 pm beginning September 6, 2017- February 28, 2018. Classes will be held at the Franklin County and Adams County Extension offices. There is a $225.00 program fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. Applications are being accepted through July 31, 2017. Interviews will be conducted in August. The class size is limited.
