We are looking for team-oriented volunteers who want to make a difference in the community using their skills and knowledge of consumer horticulture. Volunteers must commit to 40 hours of basic training and 50 hours of volunteer service in their first year. In subsequent years, volunteers need to complete 10 hours of continuing education in consumer horticulture, and serve 20 hours annually to the program.

To become a Master Gardener, the proposed dates for the basic training class in Centre County are: August 22 – December 5, 2017, with two orientation/interview sessions in July. The classes often feature live lectures with Extension educators and Master Gardeners. The registration fee of $300 covers a new, full Master Gardener manual, snacks, and supplemental materials such as Extension publications and material samples.

Times, dates, and locations are subject to change, but the class is expected to run every week for 15 weeks. Please contact the Centre County MG Coordinator or the Centre County Extension office for more information and to join our contact list.
