What to Expect

40+ hours of expert-led training covering botany, plant diseases, soil health, pruning, lawn care, ornamental plants, and more.

Hands-on learning experiences through lab sessions, garden tours, and Master Gardener projects.

Technology requirements: A stable internet connection and computer, tablet, or smartphone access.
Volunteer & Certification Requirements
- First year: Complete 50 volunteer hours.
- Subsequent years: Maintain certification with 20 volunteer hours and 10 hours of continuing education annually.
- Volunteer opportunities include:
- Designing and maintaining demonstration gardens
- Answering gardening questions on the Garden Hotline
- Educating youth and the public on horticulture
- Share knowledge and provide expert guidance on developing and managing public and community gardens
Program Fee
- $275 (includes the Master Gardener Manual, training materials, and hands-on resources). If the program fee is prohibitive, please reach out to the coordinator to discuss possible alternatives, if available.
Application & Selection Process
- Applications accepted: April – August 2026
- Interview invitations: Late August - September
- Final selection notifications: Mid-September
- Class size is limited to 15 participants to ensure an engaging and supportive learning experience.
