This insect is a potential threat to several important crops including grapes, peaches and timber trees. Many sites within the infested area have high populations of spotted lanternflies. Every landowner who effectively uses control measures will help to reduce the potential for this insect to spread to new territory.

Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Centre County present workshops, lectures, and demonstrations throughout the year to garden clubs, school groups, civic organizations, and the public.

Penn State Master Gardeners helped students at Park Forest Middle School plant a pollinator garden as part of their school beautification project.   The pollinator garden is a "satellite" garden of the nearby Snetsinger Butterfly Garden at Tudek Park.
