This annual Green Industry event at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania offers Pennsylvania Pesticide certification credits, as well as GCSAA continuing education credits. Date is March 20th.

In the winter of 2014, members of the Penn State Master Gardeners class of 2015 worked with residents of Mercy Gardens and community stakeholders to improve several landscaped areas of the property, including cleaning up the severely overgrown grape arbors. In addition, Philip Fraley, PSMG 2015, produced a scaled map that locates and identifies most of the legacy trees on the site.

The Garden Table is an urban garden in Wilkinsburg created by several members of the Penn State Master Gardener class of 2012. The original intent of the garden was to engage the community and provide them with edibles and beauty. With that in mind, master gardeners transformed an abandoned and overgrown lot into an oasis of edible and ornamental flowering plants.

With thirty-six acres of gardens, woods, lawn, and riverside walkways, Point State Park offers the experience of a natural forest in the City which has more than 3,000,000 visitors each year. It is an especially welcome respite for City residents, with its easy public transit access and connections to regional walking and bicycle trails.

One of Pittsburgh’s best kept secrets is the lovely plaza inside the Allegheny County Courthouse. According to the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, the plaza was originally used for tying up horses, carriages and, eventually, for parking automobiles.
