In family child care, unlike group homes or centers, YOU are the entire emergency response team. Through this course, owner-operators develop or refine an emergency preparedness plan’s policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all enrolled children, family members, and volunteers. These plans have specific, required components. Learn to conduct and document a wide range of safety practices in order to increase confidence and capacity to respond well in a time of crisis. (3 hours)

Course Objectives
- List the various required components of emergency plans and the reasons for those components.
- Create the basics of or review existing content in their business’s emergency preparedness plan, including identifying features that may be installed in the home as part of a safety design or technology that may be used, in order to provide for the protection of children in the event of a natural or human-caused emergency or disaster.
- Itemize the wide range of safety practices that FCC professionals should try, and document and learn from those practices as a part of their continuous quality improvement process.
