Better Kid Care’s online state-specific professional development meets the CCDBG training requirements for health and safety in those states as outlined in the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) Reauthorization of 2016.

Pennsylvania Residents

The options for completing this health and safety preservice training in Pennsylvania are:

Child Care Center and Group Child Care Homes

  1. PA Required Health and Safety for Centers-Group Child Care Part 1 (Requisitos de Salud y Seguridad para Centros-Grupos de Cuidado Infantil en PA Parte 1) (3 hours); and
  2. PA Required Health and Safety for Centers-Group Child Care Part 2 (Requisitos de Salud y Sguridad para Centros-Grupos de Cuidado Infantile n PA Parte 2) (3 hours)

Family Child Care Homes

  1. PA Required Health and Safety for Family Child Care Part 1 (Requisitos de Salud y Seguridad para Cuidado Infantil Familiar en PA Parte 1) (3 hours); and
  2. PA Required Health and Safety for Family Child Care Part 2 (Requisitos de Salud y Seguridad para Cuidado Infantil Familiar en PA Parte 2) (3 hours)

New owner-operators who have not completed a previously approved course, must complete Parts 1 and 2 prior to applying for a certificate of compliance. 

There is no charge for learners in Pennsylvania to complete the course(s) above. 

Vermont Residents

Vermont Orientation Training—This orientation course is for all individuals who work in Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Programs, Family Child Care Programs, and Afterschool Programs. (9 hours)
