Pennsylvania's 4-H dairy program offers young people the opportunity to be part of this thriving segment of agriculture. Pennsylvania is among the top five largest dairy producing states in the country, and the dairy industry contributes more than $4.2 billion annually to the Commonwealth’s economy.

From learning about production, to understanding management to learning to evaluate dairy cattle, 4-H'ers with dairy projects have access to a wide range of learning activities which gives them a broad view of the industry and its contributions. Participation in quiz bowls, on judging teams, in clinics and workshops provides them with skills and knowledge beyond just caring for their project animals.

Pennsylvania's 4-H Dairy teams have been very competitive in national dairy judging and quiz bowl competitions. A wide variety of activities are available for young people to build their skills and learn more about the dairy industry.

The Pennsylvania Dairy Quiz Bowl program is designed to encourage youth to increase their dairy knowledge through study and preparation for the contest.

About 200 youth from 4-H dairy projects around the U.S. and Canada congregate in Madison, Wisconsin for the National 4-H Dairy Conference held annually in conjunction with World Dairy Expo.
