Pennsylvania was one of 17 state teams that competed in the 37th annual National 4-H Forestry Invitational from Sunday, July 31, through Thursday, August 4.
4-H Members Learn and Excel at Wildlife and Forestry at Field Day

The 2016 4-H Wildlife and Forestry Field Day, held at Rock Springs, PA, was another “wild” success! 4-H youth and adults from across the state explored the wildlife and forestry sciences with over 100 people participating. The event featured an Exploratory Track for younger 4-H youth and a Science Track for teens. The event also included a competitive knowledge and skills test for teens hoping to attend national 4-H competitive events in wildlife and forestry.

Super Bowl champions, movie stars, presidents, musicians, city born, and farm raised - what do all of these people have in common? Each one of these groups of people includes 4-H members. My name is Laura Passmore and I was an active and proud member of the Pennsylvania 4-H program from 2000-2010 and then an employee of my home county’s Extension office in the summers of 2011 and 2012.
4-H Recognizes 4-H Leader for Outstanding Community Service Work

The second annual Community Service Award was selected by the Positive Youth Development-Citizenship Team. The award is given to a 4-H leader who supports community service and service learning projects as part of the club and county 4-H program. The winner of the 2016 State Community Service Award is Linda Siegel from Lebanon County.

Come Learn About Pennsylvania's Forests and Wildlife

The PA 4-H Wildlife & Forestry Educational Field Day is a state level experience for all 4-H youth. It is slated this year for April 23, 2016, and will take place in Rock Springs, PA (at The Ag Progress Days Site), 12 miles south of State College, PA. Excess stormwater is a growing problem in Pennsylvania and across the country, contributing to water pollution, flash floods and other issues. To help youth and adults understand and reduce the impacts of stormwater, Penn State Extension has launched a new curriculum titled "Rain to Drain — Slow the Flow."
