Purple Up! For Military Kids

Wear PURPLE on Monday, April 15th for the 3rd Annual "Purple Up! For Military Kids."

April marks the nation's "Month of the Military Child."  This month has been set aside to recognize the sacrifice that the children and youth of our military personnel make because when parents serve in the military, their kids serve, too.  These children and youth are a source of pride and honor to us all, and it is only fitting that we take time to recognize their contributions, celebrate their spirit, and let our  men and women in uniform know that while they are taking care of us, we are taking care of their children and youth.

The 4-H Youth Development program of Penn State Extension invites you to join states across the nation for the 3rd Annual "Purple Up! For Military Kids."

We are encouraging everyone across the state of Pennsylvania to wear purple on Monday, April 15th, as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue.  We hope everyone will take this opportunity to appreciate and celebrate these young heroes.

Be creative...the goal is for military youth to actually see the support of their community!

Remember to send your photos to to post them on the State 4-H website, where military youth and families from across the state will see them.
