Camp Brule is located in Sullivan County and is not far for any of our members to travel to. 4-H Camp Brule is 5 days and 4 nights of experiencing the great outdoors, making lifelong friends, team building, 4-H project workshops, swimming, boating, singing, skits, campfires and eating amazing camp food.

Demonstration Night

Sullivan County 4-H holds Demonstration Night as an opportunity for youth to demonstrate skills they are learning within their 4-H club in front of a small audience. Youth who participate in Demonstration Night build their public speaking skills, self-confidence, and have an opportunity to share their knowledge of their project. Youth can choose to either do a speech or a demonstration at this event.

Roundups

Sullivan County 4-H holds three Roundups each summer. These include Dairy, Horse and Project Roundup.

  • Dairy Roundup: The members bring their dairy animals to the Sullivan County Fairgrounds to show them to a judge in their respective classes. Members also compete in showmanship classes in their respective age group. This is a separate show from the Sullivan County Fair Jr. Dairy Show.
  • Horse Roundup: This is our county 4-H Horse and Pony Show. This show allows for equine 4-H members to demonstrate the skills they have learned while working with their horse. Members show at the county show to qualify to show at the district 4-H horse show. Prior show, members work with the volunteers to choose which classes they will ride in and all members compete in their respective Groom and Showmanship Class.
  • Project Roundup: This Roundup includes all 4-H projects and officer books. This event gives all members the opportunity to present their project and project book to a judge. Members are asked questions about what they learned while completing their project and their participation in 4-H. Project Roundup teaches members organization, time management, and interview skills. Live animals are not brought to project roundup. Non-living projects can be entered into the Sullivan County Fair at Roundup. Projects are then put-on display in the 4-H building through the end of the Fair.

Local Government Day

Sullivan County 4-H offers its members the opportunity to learn about their local government by visiting the Sullivan County Courthouse in Laporte. Members meet the Commissioners, tour the offices within the courthouse and learn how our county government works.
