County 4-H Members Participate in State Achievement Days

Four County Members attend Pennsylvania 4-H State Achievement Days held at Penn State.

Sam Ferster, Leck Kill 4-H Club, won State Tractor Driving Competitions

Four Northumberland County 4-H members were among the 650 teens who attended and competed in the Pennsylvania 4-H State Achievement Days Contests in early August. State Achievement Days is held annually at Penn State University and this year was held from August 4-6, 2015. The event Pennsylvania 4-H'ers attending the three-day event participated in various contests and activities, including horse judging, public speaking, shooting sports, robotics and questing.

Those who attended from Northumberland County were: Sam Ferster, Leck Kill 4-H Club (Tractor Driving Large & Skid Steer); Victoria Nicola, Backwoodsmen 4-H Club (Archery); Colton Schaible, Leck Kill 4-H Club (Tractor Driving Large); and Emma Sharp, Backwoodsmen 4-H Club (Horse Judging). Sam Ferster won both the Large and Skid Steer Tractor Driving Competitions and became the first Northumberland County 4-H member to win either of these events.

All teens in Northumberland County are welcome and encouraged to attend State-Level events like State Achievement Days. The next State Event is State Leadership Conference, which will be held in January, 2016.
