One hundred eighteen 4-H’ers participated in this year’s 4-H Capital Days. Delegates participated in workshops on parliamentary procedure, reading a bill, party affiliations, advocacy, creating a local government day, debating a bill and a mock Legislative session. They toured the Capitol and were invited on the House and Senate floor by Senator Scott Hutchinson. Secretary Russell Redding addressed the delegates after the tour and posed for a picture with them in the Rotunda. Participants also enjoyed a baseball game between the Harrisburg Senators and the Reading Fighting Phils. On the last day, delegates hosted Legislators for brunch and photos. Guest speakers, Lorelei and Chelle McIntyre-Brewer, part of a military family, told their 4-H story and how 4-H has benefited them through and during their many challenges.

Administered in Pennsylvania by Penn State Extension, 4-H is a non-formal educational youth-development program of the national Cooperative Extension System that helps young people develop knowledge and skills to become capable, caring and contributing citizens.
