How to Become a 4-H Volunteer

The 4-H program is always looking for adults to serve as Organizational Leaders and Project Leaders.

Volunteers are key to the success of the 4-H program. The contribution of our adult volunteers is immeasurable. To serve as either as an organizational leader or project leader, a  Penn State Extension screening process must be completed, which includes:

  • Completing the application
  • Supply 3 personal references
  • Penn State will complete a background check (cost covered by Penn State)
  • Set up a personal interview with 4-H Coordinator
  • Take a Mandated Reporter Training online
  • Read and sign a V.I.P. & Code of Conduct fact sheet packet

Upon completion of these items, an acceptance letter will be sent to you and the leader of the club in which you wish to volunteer.
