Upcoming 4-H Programs in Oxford

Arts and Crafts, Sewing, and Cooking clubs will be offered in Oxford.

The excitement and anticipation of the new 4-H art clubs in Oxford has come to fruition.

  • On Tuesday, October 14, the Oxford Library will start a 4-H art club, making personal portfolios to hold the 4-H member’s art work. Using the 4-H Portfolio Pathways Painting, Printing and Graphic Design book, members will explore various techniques using a wide variety of materials in all 4-H art club locations.
  • On October 6, using the same 4-H Portfolio Pathways book and starting the similar project, the Oxford Lighthouse Youth Center will be starting a 4-H club at their new facility, located on Commerce Street in Oxford. The Lighthouse will also utilize the 4-H Qui Rico book, exploring Hispanic traditions through art, in their program.
  • Also starting on weekly basis, will be the Oxford Village Art Club, which will meet at the Penn Township Municipal Building. This club will use the 4-H Portfolio Pathways and the 4-H Qui Rico book as well to explore art.

All of these 4-H programs offer creative outlets for children afterschool, in wonderful safe environments. Hope to see you at one of the locations; it’s never too late to sign-up.

The Sewing Tornadoes are doing well in the Oxford Library based club. The members are learning to read patterns and machine sew shorts. One member, Alessandra made a jump suit and another, Annie, has made therapeutic heat wraps and curtains. This club offers different skills levels of sewing and allows for experimentation.

The Cooking Club in Oxford is starting a new 4-H book focused on techniques and skills on cooking. Previously, the club learned about good food choices, healthy eating and reading labels. This new book explores cooking basics and has lots of good recipes to try.
