Why join 4-H?

The 4-H program teaches leadership, citizenship, and life skills in an informal, volunteer-led, hands-on, fun learning environment. 4-H projects are research-based and reviewed by specialists at Penn State University. The goal of 4-H is to help young people become self-directed, productive, and contributing members of a diverse society. Visit the Pennsylvania 4-H Program website for more information about 4-H in PA!

Who can join?

Anyone aged 8 to 18 by January 1 of the current year, living anywhere in Pennsylvania, can join the program. In addition, youth aged 5-7 may enroll in the introductory "Cloverbud" program using age-appropriate learning activities. A $20 Cloverbud educational materials fee is charged plus a $25 horse program fee if Cloverbud is enrolled in a Cloverbud Horse program.

How much does it cost?

A $30.00 educational materials fee is charged for books, and the horse program has an additional yearly fee of $25.00. However, many clubs offer optional state-approved fundraising activities to help offset these costs.

When are the fees due?

Fees are due by May 15th. 4-H and Cloverbud clubs should collect the fees from families and turn them into the Penn State Extension Office by May 15. Checks should be made payable to "Beaver County 4-H Fund".

Who helps your child?

4-H Club Leaders are adult volunteers who have been carefully screened and interviewed by the 4-H & Youth Extension Educator. Please visit the For Volunteers page for more information.

What projects and clubs are available?

Take a look at the Beaver County 4-H Club Listings to see what is offered. Then simply contact our office to be put in touch with a 4-H Leader for the club that best suits your child’s interests. The 4-H Leader will give you the details on club activities and meetings times and locations and has all the information you needed to enroll.

How do I sign up?

Visit the For Members page for more information. If you have additional questions, please contact Jen McKinley, 4-H Educator, in Beaver County, at 724-774-3003 or email at
