Pollinator Conservation Workshop
Led by Philadelphia native, pollinator ecologist, and ecotoxologist Dr. Doug Sponsler along with Penn Extension Philadelphia Master Gardener Howard Goldstein, this interactive 2-hour workshop will touch on the basics of farming and gardening for pollinator conservation as well as current pollinator research in the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. The program will begin with a presentation led by Howard focused around creating and managing dynamic pollinator habitats. Following Howard’s presentation, you will learn about Doug’s current research with Philadelphia beekeeper’s detailing the relationship between urban land use, floral communities, and pollinators in Philadelphia. Towards the end of the program, you will explore upcoming opportunities for participating in future pollinator research in our City and our local experts will be available to answer all of your pollinator conservation questions!
