Plan Now for the Ag Progress Days Hay Show and Forage Tour

Will your sample be a winner at this year’s Hay Show? Jessica Williamson Photo

The Hay Show at Ag Progress Days allows Pennsylvania hay growers the chance to enter their hay, learn its nutritional content and see how it compares with others from across the state. If you made good hay this year, pull a couple of your best bales and consider submitting them for judging. This year there are 26 classes to showcase the different forage mixes and production practices found across the state. For those that competed in the past, please note that that the hay classes have changed. Section I will include only completely field-cured hay and Section II will include heat or mechanical drying, as well as added hay preservatives.

The show is located inside the Harrington Building at the end of East 5th Street. Each Hay Show entry must have a completed entry form . There is no entry fee for members of the PA Forage and Grassland Council; the non-member fee is $10 per sample. If you are not a member of the PFGC and would like to join or you have questions about the show, contact at 814-355-2467 go to the PA Forage and Grassland Council website. Deadline for sample delivery to Ag Progress Days is 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 14th. In addition, you can drop off samples at one of locations below.
