Spray thresholds for CEW are being exceeded in Erie and Lancaster Counties. ECB and FAW counts are low. Also be aware that brown marmorated stink bug tends to move into sweet corn in August.
Corn earworm (CEW) counts have decreased in the last week, although not in Erie County. Populations may be getting diluted into nearby field corn if that field corn is silking. The most recent counts suggest sites at a 4-5 day interval in Erie County. and sites at either 4-5, or 5-6 day spray interval in Lancaster County. Counts can change rapidly at this time of year.
European corn borer (ECB) counts are low.
Fall armyworm (FAW) counts are also low, except in Erie County.
Reproductive (tassel/silk) and late vegetative corn attracts moths. Shorten spray schedules when populations increase.
