This will be the last reporting week for the PestWatch Program in 2025. Stay tuned for relevant extension talks and events over the winter season. The PestWatch Report will return in the first week of June 2026.

With the sweet corn season winding down, we had just 8 sites reporting this week and all detected corn earworm moths. Counts are highly variable across the state, with low counts in Lancaster, Centre, Clinton, Indiana and York but we continue to see hotspots in Franklin and Lehigh counties. As silking corn becomes less common on the landscape, corn earworm number are expected to be higher at sites with silking corn. Even silks that have started to dry down will receive higher pressure than during mid-season.

Fall armyworm was reported at 7 of 8 monitored sites this week, with high counts in Centre and Lehigh Counties. Fall armyworm larvae feed on the leaves but also the tips and sides of ears and are generally well controlled with the same pesticides used to control corn earworm.

The maps and graphics below will update in real time as reports come in across the state.
