Pesticide Applicator Recertification Workbook: Pesticide Recordkeeping
This Pesticide Recordkeeping workbook is an excellent resource that provides new and experienced pesticide applicators a review of the pesticide recordkeeping requirements in Pennsylvania. You should be able to read through the workbook and take the quiz in one hour.
A successfully completed workbook will count as pesticide recertification credits only ONCE in the lifetime of the applicator.
Specific topics include
- Why Keep Pesticide Records?
- What Do You Need to Include in a Pesticide Record?
- Common Mistakes or Omissions in Pesticide Recordkeeping including application location; brand name, active ingredient, and EPA registration number; and restricted-entry interval.
- Worker Protection Standard includes common definitions and terms; REI requirements (exception for limited-contact activities, application exclusion zones, and tasks during an agricultural emergency)
- Worker Protection Standard Checklist including central location, pesticide safety training, handler decontamination sites, worker decontamination sites, applicator notification, personal protective equipment (PPE), employer information exchange, and monitoring handlers
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Important Contacts for Pesticide Applicators
To earn two Core credits, you must follow these steps:
- Read the workbook thoroughly and work through the activities.
- Find the quiz sheet; clearly print your name, address, business name (if applicable), date of birth, and certification number; and then read and sign the disclaimer.
- Answer the questions on the quiz sheet. You must correctly answer at least 7 out of 10 questions to pass.
- Return the quiz in the postage-paid addressed envelope.
- Once received, the quiz will be graded. If you pass the quiz, you will receive a completion certificate in the mail. If you fail the quiz, you will receive another quiz in the mail. You can take the quiz a total of three times.
Once you pass the quiz, we will include your information in a report that will be sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) at the end of the month, per PDA’s guidelines for submitting verification of completions. Please be aware that the process from the time a quiz is mailed back to Penn State and graded, a report is submitted, and credits are added may take from three to six weeks.
