When you first encounter large numbers of Spotted Lanternfly, it can be scary.
The most important thing to remember, though, is to not panic.
We want to keep you and your family and the environment safe as we take action against this important pest.
Spotted Lanternfly does not bite or sting.
They are very annoying, but they don't cause damage to the structure of your home and they only feed on living plant tissue.
Many people are afraid that Spotted Lanternfly might hurt their trees.
From our observations in previous years, though, we believe that a few Spotted Lanternfly feeding on a large, healthy tree is unlikely to cause permanent or lasting damage, but you should still care about Spotted Lanternfly because it can cause damage to our environment and Pennsylvania agriculture.
Follow guidelines provided by Penn State Extension and visit our website to learn more about managing this important pest.
