About the In Person Workshop
The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County present "Natives in Your Garden," an engaging and educational day highlighting the beauty, value, and impact of native plants. Designed for gardeners of all experience levels, this event features four informative sessions led by knowledgeable speakers covering why native plants matter, ways to incorporate them into home landscapes, methods for supporting pollinators and wildlife, the effects of climate change on native plant communities, and practical strategies for creating sustainable, low-maintenance gardens suited to the region. The day also includes a hands-on demonstration, informational displays, and opportunities for one-on-one conversations with Penn State Master Gardeners. A variety of vendors offering native and houseplants, along with nature-inspired items for home and garden, round out the experience, providing connections to local growers and businesses. Whether just beginning to explore native plants or seeking to expand existing knowledge, this full-day program offers learning, inspiration, and community while showcasing how native plants can enhance gardens and strengthen local ecosystems.
