About The in-Person Workshop

Join Penn State Extension to discover practical strategies for improving milk quality and profitability on your dairy farm. During this program, participants will explore the economic impacts of mastitis, best management practices for milking procedures, and effective methods for reducing somatic cell count. Learn how to interpret culture results, take milk samples correctly, and use Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA) records to guide management and culling decisions. The extension Dairy experts will also share insights from a Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE)–sponsored project highlighting the most common milk quality challenges on Pennsylvania dairy farms and solutions to address them.

This material is based upon work supported by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture, through the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program, under Subaward Number ONE24-446-AWD00001359.
