About the In-Person Workshop
"Mental Wellness Garden Series: Helping Others in Distress" is part of a monthly workshop series focused on practical strategies for maintaining positive mental health and exploring how gardening practices can support overall well-being. In this session, participants will learn to recognize the physical, emotional, and behavioral signs of someone experiencing distress and gain tools to respond with confidence and care. Strategies for approaching and de-escalating heightened situations will be discussed, along with the importance of monitoring personal stress levels and incorporating self-care practices. The workshop also features a Master Gardener–led program on caring for houseplants as a wellness practice, and each participant will plant and take home a houseplant to continue the experience beyond the session.
