About The In-Person Workshop

Mental Health First Aid for Adults Working with Youth is designed to teach adults who regularly interact with young people how to provide initial support to youth experiencing mental health or addiction challenges and assist them in finding the help and care they need. As certified instructors, Penn State Extension educators teach the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course. The program consists of two hours of self-paced online learning and an all-day, instructor-led class. The course includes activities and opportunities to practice support strategies, and a certificate will be available online upon completion.

Approximately one to two weeks before the instructor-led session(s), registrants will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the self-paced online portion.

This event is in partnership with the Prevention Resource Center. It is provided by the Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Regional (ROTA-R)  initiative, supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services  Administration (SAMHSA).

Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar.
